Cruising with Carnival from Charleston, Sc!

Well I finally took that leap. I was so nervous to cruise since Covid. But we finally booked and cruised on an amazing 4 night cruise from Charleston, SC on the Carnival Sunshine.

Let me just begin by saying, the stomach bug hit our house 5 days before, and well this mama was on pins and needles thinking I had to cancel our trip. I didn’t buy the extra insurance (I probably should have) so I knew we had to go either way!

I’m so glad we did! My mom actually traveled with us because my husband couldn’t take off of work. I love getting away for a few days, especially when I do not have to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner! We decided to get two interior rooms because my 3 year old isn’t the best sleeper. TIP: if you have multiple kids, check into two side by side rooms when cruising. It was the same cost down to the penny with Carnival. It worked out so well and I loved having the extra space!

We stopped in Nassau, Bahamas and we chose to do the dolphin encounter excursion with Blue Lagoon Island. If you are in the Bahamas, I highly recommend visiting this island and booking an excursion with them! They have swimming with dolphins, stingrays, sea lions, and even sharks! Next time we are definitely doing the sea lions and sharks!

The dolphin encounter was amazing for all of us! Even my 3 year old was able to participate. We got the most amazing pictures and made the best memories! I’m a firm believer that these experiences are worth more than any physical gift I could give my kids.

The Carnival Sunshine had everything that we could have wanted! The food, entertainment, casino, and kids waterpark area were all fabulous! I think the one thing I would have changed if I could, was the main pool was not as kid friendly for the littles. My oldest Haley was fine, as it was pretty deep, but Bryce who is 3 it was not great for him. They do have life jackets that you can use so that was a huge plus. My girls loved the water slides, so I would recommend lounging on the chairs below and you can easily see the kids after they make it down the slides. They have three bigger slides as well, which were awesome, but I couldn’t always see the kids each time they went down.

Getting off the ship was so easy! It was the fastest debarkation I have ever had! They have porters to assistant with luggage which was super helpful! You take a shuttle from the ship after you retrieve your luggage, and that shuttle takes you to your car. Way to go Carnival! We will be back!
